This was my first exploration into the empirical world of education. After volunteering in a grade 4 classroom and supporting a student with Autism, I felt sad that this particular student was in a classroom with no additional supports. His teacher was the only educator in the room; she had around 25 students to support as well. After my research, I have seen the benefits of additional supports and inclusive teaching strategies in classrooms. My research proposes that classrooms use structured learning strategies, obtain additional supports, and more time for teachers to understand their students will be beneficial in increasing special education students' academic success.
